Naming Convention for Files Sent to the Teacher

1. Always be sure that your name is included within the document that you're submitting.

2. In order to avoid the confusion produced by using generic file names, always save your files in the form assignmentcode-NCSSMusername.ext, where you replace 'assignmentcode' with  the letter and number of the assignment (for example, E07), and you replace 'NCSSMusername' with the name that you use to log in to your NCSSM account and email.  The extension (ext) will be determined by the type of file you're sending.  If you use common or generic names, your file may be confused with that of another student who negligently uses the same name.  Your file may be lost if you use a generic name, and you may not receive credit for it. It's your responsibility to name your files correctly.  Here's an example of a correctly-named word document for Jane Doe who is submitting assignment E07 and has an NCSSM username of doej:

e07-doej.doc

Note the dash separating the two parts of the filename.  Use a single dash (not an underscore or space).  This way, when the teacher downloads the files for the class into a folder, they will be ordered alphabetically by last names.
