  2. Unzip the file.
  3. Double click on setup.exe to start installation. Follow the instructions.
  4. Continue below to update to the most recent version. You must install the most recent version; otherwise, the instructor may not be able to read your GA files.

In order to update an existing version of Graphical Analysis 3, do the following:

  1. Download the file GraphicalAnalysis3Updater.exe. Do not run the install program from the server.
  2. Double click on the file to start installation. Follow the instructions.

If you neglect to follow the instructions, you may get the dreaded "File is Corrupt" error. Continue reading to find out how to solve this problem.

Graphical Analysis has a problem with backward compatibility. If you create a file in an older version of the program and attempt to open the file in a newer version, you may see the error message, "File is Corrupt," followed by an automatic shutdown of the program. This is why it's so important to complete all the steps above and update to the latest version of the software. There is, however, a way to deal with this file incompatibility issue. Here's how.

  1. Open the file in the version of Graphical Analysis that was used to create the file.
  2. Select File-->Export as Text and save the file as a text file.
  3. Upgrade to the latest version of Graphical Analysis as described in steps 5 and 6 above.
  4. Select File-->Import From Text File and browse for the text file that you created in step 2.
  5. After the file opens, save it in ga3 format.

If this procedure doesn't work, your only option is to recreate the file. This time, use the latest version of the software.
