Abstract

We observed, through the use of a high speed motion video camera (MotionScope 8000) and high-resolution photographs, the phenomenon of dropping milk or colored water into petroleum ether, an organic solvent.  Observations were made on several variations of this basic setup, each time involving petroleum ether and water or milk.  Due to the differences in densities and properties of  the liquids, the resulting splash video clips and images are unlike that of ordinary, single liquid, splashes.
