This series of photographs was taken with a single-flash technique. Each frame is actually a separate collision; similar collisions were photographed at different points in time and the resulting pictures were pieced together afterwards. The first frame was taken immediately upon impact; each subsequent frame is 2 milliseconds later. The entire collision lasts 32 milliseconds, or perhaps slightly longer.
