Discussion of Results

Using the double exposures and the equations from the analysis, we were able to find speed measurements ranging from 98 mph to 148 mph. These values reflect the contact made with the ball when Tate swung. Tate’s swings were almost in complete darkness and in a limited space. Thus, to make a good swing with a high club-speed was difficult to do. Due to these conditions Tate had a lot of bad swings where he either made contact outside the center of the golf club or hit the mat before the ball as shown below. Obtaining a speed of 148 mph as well as capturing great indentations were great accomplishments. These "Bad Contact" photos are speaking in terms of a golf swing, not in photo quality in relation to the desired effect.
