This is the students' first experimental design project.  They must design a contact trigger to capture the collision of a water balloon with the floor.  The trigger must include a mechanical means to introduce a time delay between the beginning of the collision and the discharge of the flash.  The time delay must be reproducible and adjustable in order to capture the collision in all stages of development.
