Shallow Water
Splash
Download Clip (504 Kb)
This
type of splash is a little different from those formed in deep water.
This splash was made on a thin film of water, using the same photogate
technique as the other splashes. This splash does not create a column
at the end, and the "crater" formed has much higher walls
than those made in deep water splashes. Also, right at the beginning
of the splash, there is a crown of water visible for an instant. The
framerate for this video was 1000 frames/sec, and the shutter speed
was 4X, or 1/4000th of a second.
