Conclusion/ Discussion

Our group was able to capture images of the impact of apple cores fired at a high speed from an air compression gun and therefore accomplished our goal. Through this experience, we were able to gain valuable experience in the field of high speed imaging.

            Although we encountered difficult situations and failed in our trials numerous times we were ultimately successful. Our failures helped us learn and better understand the equipment and strategy involved in high speed imaging. In the end, we were able to capture many rich and interesting pictures of the explosion of apple cores on impact after being fired from our air compression gun. The usage of two different colored flash units with consecutive delay times helped our group better understand the actual explosion of the apple cores by showing us the progression of the explosion as time passed.

            We had learned a great deal from all our experiences leading up to the end of our experimental portion of mini-term. By the end of our trials, our group was extremely proficient in preparing the experiment apparatus, firing the air compression gun, and capturing the high speed image of the explosion. The project had been a success in terms of teamwork, education, and entertainment.
