Introduction

The goal of our project was to capture images of the impact of apple cores fired at a high speed from an air compression gun. In order to do this, we built an air compression gun using PVC pipes and aluminum foil as the valve for the air compression chamber. We loaded the air compression gun with cores cut from apples and fired them at a contact trigger a few meters away with slight time delay.
In the beginning, we had trouble with the consistency of the air compression gun, because of continuing technical problems such as air leaks, faulty aluminum foil, and poor apple cores. However, after we were able to fix these problems and consistently fire the air compression gun, we were able to capture many excellent images of our apple cores exploding at a high speed. Our project was therefore a success, despite the setbacks we encountered along the way.
