Water Splashes

Depending on the height from which a drop falls, the rebound of the resulting splash can occur in two different ways.  The tip of the column can break off into one or more drops, or the column can simply collapse toward the surface.  Although there seemed to be a slight separation in the previous photo, it wasn't enough for a drop to break off in this case.  For a series showing a droplet breaking free, go here.
