Water Splashes

by Loren Winters

The following water splash sequence was filmed at a downward angle toward the water's surface.  The splash was illuminated by an electronic flash unit from below through the translucent bowl.  This provided the contrast needed to show the details of the splash.

Each drop broke a photogate beam, which discharged the flash unit after a certain delay time.  The delay time was increased for each successive photo.
