Long Fall (high-resolution clips)
Description Various objects are dropped in pairs from a fourth floor
window. Most of the objects are dropped from a trapdoor
device so that they are released at very nearly the same
time. As a result of air friction, the objects experience
changing acceleration.
Scaling data The marks on the rope are 1.00 meter apart.
Additonal data mass of hollow racquetball 1 = 0.0427 kg
mass of hollow racquetball 2 = 0.0420 kg
mass of weighted racquetball = 0.4189 kg
diameter of racquetball = 0.0560 m
mass of hollow orange ball = 0.117 kg
diameter of hollow orange ball = 0.192 m
mass of tennis ball (generic) = 0.058 kg
diameter of tennis ball (generic) = 0.064 m
mass of solid orange ball = 0.684 kg
diameter of solid orange ball = 0.0621 m
mass of can = 0.0700 kg
diameter of can = 0.066 m
height of can = 0.101 m
(can dropped with circular cross section horizontal)
Video information Frame rate = 29.97 fps
Codec = Intel Indeo 3.2
Note: The clips aren't aspect corrected. However, this
won't affect analysis in the vertical direction.
