Message from the Chair...
I would like to start off by thanking each you for electing me as your
staff council chairperson. It is an honor to be able to serve the SPA
employees of NCSSM. I promise to give a 110 % to this position. As I
said in my speech my door is always open, if you have any concerns or
questions please come see me. I will be meeting very soon with the other
elected officers to go over some of the plans we have for the school
year. Below are some of the things we are working on at the moment.
Debra Bowick is in the process of starting a staff choir. I haven't
spoken with her yet, I am hoping she is getting a lot of interest from
people. Please contact her if you would like to participate.
We are also in the planning stages of starting a birthday type club. If
you are interested please e-mail your birthday to Shelia Butts. When
your birthday comes around you will receive an e-card through e-mail.
Then at the end of the month all SPA employees will meet for about 30
minutes to enjoy some cake and punch and celebrate the birthdays for the
month.
I am going to be speaking with Glenda and Belinda concerning the
Christmas tree that NCSSM puts up every year. I would like for us to get
together as a staff for about an hour and decorate the tree, have some
delicious snacks and listen to some holiday music.
Then the last thing I am working on is getting the exercise program back
up and running. I know a couple of people still use the two thirty
minute periods a week that Dr. Boarman gave us to exercise. I would like
to get more people involved and see how many employees we can get out
there each time.
We would also like to restart the reps at large program that we had
about 3 years ago. I would like to have 5 or 6 reps. One from each area
of the school would be the best break down. If interested please contact
me.
I will be scheduling a meeting sometime towards the end of the month. I
will put out more information later. I think this is going to be a great
school year for the SPA employees at NCSSM. If we all work together we
can make it very special.
